Senior Hezbollah Commander Killed in Israeli Airstrike

Published at Nov 24, 2025 10:43 am
On the 23rd, Lebanon's Hezbollah issued a statement confirming that the group's senior military commander Tabatabai was killed in an Israeli "treacherous" airstrike that day.

After the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire in November 2024, Tabatabai was appointed Hezbollah's Chief of Staff, leading the organization's reconstruction efforts.

The statement described Tabatabai as an "outstanding" Hezbollah commander who had participated in the group's military activities since its founding and had played a "central" role in the long-term struggle against Israel. His sacrifice will further strengthen the resolve of Hezbollah fighters, and Hezbollah vowed to continue confronting Israel.

Hezbollah pointed out that four other Hezbollah members also died in this airstrike.

On the same day, Israel carried out an airstrike on the southern suburbs of Lebanon's capital Beirut, hitting a multi-story residential building. Lebanon's Ministry of Health said the airstrike caused 28 injuries.

Lebanese President Aoun issued a statement saying that this airstrike once again shows that the Israeli side disregards the international community's repeated calls to halt attacks on Lebanon, refuses to implement relevant international resolutions, and rejects efforts by all parties to contain the escalation and restore stability to Lebanon and the broader region.

Aoun stated that Lebanon has always observed the ceasefire agreement, reiterating his call for the international community to take real responsibility, stop Israel's attacks on Lebanon and its people, prevent further escalation, and avoid more bloodshed.

Since the ceasefire agreement took effect, Israel has not only refused to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon, but has also frequently launched airstrikes on the grounds that Hezbollah is attempting to rebuild its military strength and violating the ceasefire agreement, using these actions to pressure the Lebanese government. Recently, Israeli airstrikes have increased in both frequency and intensity.
