Two leaders of the People's Voice storming the Ministry of Home Affairs might be charged next week.
Sven, the Executive Director of the People's Voice, and Project Manager Azura, along with another unidentified individual, are expected to be charged under the Protected Areas and Protected Places Act 1959 at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court next Tuesday.
In a statement, the People's Voice indicated that they believe the charges stem from the entry of the three into the Ministry's building, which police claim is a protected area.
On February 12, People's Voice pointed out that police arrested two people regarding the above incident, though the police later denied the charges, stating the two were only asked to provide statements.
On February 10, People's Voice accompanied 32 families of detainees under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA) to the Ministry of Home Affairs, hoping to meet with the Ministry’s representatives to convey the families' appeals. The alleged trespassing into the protected area occurred soon after.
