(Bandar Seri Begawan, 31st) His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei departed yesterday for Busan, South Korea, to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM) which will be held from October 31 to November 1, 2025, in Gyeongju.
Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei is his son, Prince Mateen.
Upon arrival at Gimhae Air Base, His Majesty was welcomed by the Korean Air Force Honor Guard and greeted by Ambassador Kimo Lim from the 2025 APEC Preparatory Office.
Other attendees include Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, Dato Liew Ka Ming, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato Erywan, and Brunei’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Korea, Pengiran Hajah Noriah.
This year, as the host of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), South Korea has set the theme of “Building a Sustainable Future Together: Connecting Innovation, Sharing Prosperity,” aiming to promote an open, resilient, and peaceful Asia-Pacific region, in line with the APEC Putrajaya 2040 Vision.
