(Bandar Seri Begawan, 31st) The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD), together with the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC), organized a tree planting activity yesterday at the department's Meteorological Radar Building in Kampong Melabau to commemorate World Meteorological Day 2025.
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Muhammad Yusof was invited as the guest of honour.
Afterwards, the acting director of the Meteorological Department, Rokiah, delivered the welcome speech.
During the event, invited guests participated in a group tree planting activity, planting 50 Bucida saplings and 15 Gardenia plants around the Meteorological Radar Building.
This initiative is one of a series of activities carried out by the Brunei Meteorological Department in commemoration of World Meteorological Day 2025 and to support the “Green Protocol Guidelines.” These guidelines were formulated based on the “Brunei National Climate Change Policy” (BNCCP) implemented by the Brunei Climate Change Office (BCCO) in 2021, and aim to reduce the carbon footprint of public service places through sustainable practices such as tree planting.
