RBAF Contingent Sets Off to Participate in Lebanon Peacekeeping Mission

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 31st) The Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) contingent set off yesterday for Malaysia to join Malaysia’s 850-13 Battalion (MALBATT 850-13) in undertaking a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission.
The RBAF Commander, Dato Mohd Haszaimi, presided over the national flag handover ceremony at Rimba Air Base, presenting the national flag to the leader of the RBAF contingent, Major Mohd Waddin.
Attendees included Malaysia's High Commissioner to Brunei, Dato Mohd Aini, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Defence.
The RBAF contingent is led by Major Mohd Waddin and comprises a total of 21 personnel, consisting of 3 officers, 18 soldiers, and 2 female personnel. They will undertake a 12-month mission and are scheduled to depart for Malaysia on Thursday, October 30, 2025, after which they will proceed to Lebanon together with the Malaysian MALBATT 850-13 contingent.
Since 2008, Brunei has been actively participating in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) operations, demonstrating Brunei’s unwavering commitment to supporting the international community in maintaining global peace and stability.
Through continued participation, Brunei not only strengthens its diplomatic relations and military cooperation with other countries, but also showcases the capability and professionalism of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in fulfilling international responsibilities.
