(Sri Aman, Jan 12) The Sri Aman Foochow Association held a New Year Gala Night last night on the first floor of Quan Fang Restaurant to celebrate the upcoming new year. Leaders of various associations and members who attended the previous conference were invited to participate.
At the gala, Dato' Dr. Ngu Piew Seng, chairman of the Cheng Bang Jiang Foochow Association, stated that hosting the New Year Gala Night is a continuation of tradition. It is to thank the members for their support and encouragement throughout the year by inviting fellow townspeople and friendly association leaders to gather, strengthen relationships, discuss shared heritage, and celebrate the New Year together.
He hopes that through such activities, regardless of origin, the exchanges and cooperation between various associations can be promoted, deepening the brotherly bond, enhancing the unity and mutual trust of the Chinese associations in Cheng Bang Jiang, and jointly fighting for the rights the Chinese community deserves under the banner of the Simmue Province Chinese Federation for a better future.
“In the new year, I will continue to speak for the welfare of the people of Cheng Bang Jiang. I once again urge the Sarawak Allied Government to resolve the issue of upgrading the road from Domoro intersection to the Cheng Bang Jiang city center, which is only 9 kilometers long, as soon as possible.”
He said that the improvement of this road not only helps alleviate traffic congestion but also promotes urban development in Cheng Bang Jiang. The financial strength of the Sarawak government is undeniable, as they have allocated 900 million ringgit for a hydrogen-powered smart rail prototype concept validation exercise. There is no reason to neglect the people's most pressing needs while investing huge funds in immature projects.”

Dato' Dr. Ngu Piew Seng emphasized that Sarawak's current development is decades behind Peninsular Malaysia. The government should improve the vehicular system within Sarawak, which is far more practical than the government's unrealistic smart rail plans. He believes that the Sarawak government should immediately stop using taxpayers' money to fuel its unrealistic fantasies.
He also urged national and state assembly members to fulfill their duties diligently and strive for the implementation of this vital road upgrade plan in Cheng Bang Jiang.
“Additionally, regarding the issue of citizens frequently receiving fines due to smart traffic lights and chaotic traffic lines on the route from Sarawak Ulu Rd to Domoro, he hopes the authorities will listen to public opinion, provide an adaptation period, and adjust relevant measures.”
He stated that since Sarawak Ulu Rd is a major industrial area, he hopes the government can establish appropriate U-turns to facilitate business owners and road users.

He reminded everyone that health is the most important wealth. In the past year, we have lost some old friends, which makes one deeply feel the impermanence of life. In the new year, he hopes everyone will pay attention to their health, take good care of themselves and their families, as health and peace are the foundation of all happiness.
At the gala night, as the president of the Cheng Bang Jiang Music Society, Dato' Dr. Ngu Piew Seng was invited to present red envelopes to the singers who achieved excellent results in the All-Sarawak Singing Competition.
