Two trains collided in the Bedford region of the UK on the 19th, resulting in one death and dozens of injuries.

The British Transport Police issued a statement confirming that the accident has resulted in one fatality.

Data from local ambulance services shows that 11 people are "very seriously injured," 22 others are seriously injured, and 56 sustained minor injuries.

The accident occurred at around 5:15 p.m. local time, near Bedford, a town about 56 miles (90 km) north of the British capital, London. A train operated by East Midlands Railway was struck from behind by a Thameslink Luton Airport Express train.

Authorities dispatched more than 20 ambulances and 6 air ambulances to assist with rescue efforts.

Local media, citing eyewitnesses, reported that some people at the scene had blood streaming down their faces, some had broken legs, and some were coughing up blood.

One passenger, Knapp, told the media: "I felt myself violently thrown into the seat in front of me, and then I saw smoke. People were screaming, utterly terrified and at a loss; I saw many unable to speak and some with broken legs."
