(Kuala Lumpur, 2nd) Subang Jaya Mayor Dato' Amirul Azizan emphasized that the development project near the gas pipe explosion site at Putra Heights has been approved with a development permit since 2022.
He stated that this shophouse construction development project is currently in the stage of obtaining the Completion and Compliance Certificate (CCC), and all the approvals have been obtained as per the regulations.
“The project was supposed to be completed in December last year; however, there have been some delays due to the CCC acquisition process.”
He responded to media queries at the Disaster Control Station (PKTK) regarding social media claims that contractor operations led to the natural gas pipeline explosion.
Amirul said the Subang Jaya City Council would not issue an official statement on the matter since Petronas, the police, and relevant units are investigating the incident.
He said that various claims circulated on social media cannot be taken as fact, and the city government has entrusted the investigation entirely to the aforementioned units.
He also confirmed that the development plan was approved to use Petronas's reserved land (ROW), meaning a reserve route, and the contractor involved is a group approved by the relevant agencies.
“Any decisions they made were according to regulations, having obtained Petronas’s approval and permission to use the reserve route for the installation of a pipeline by Indah Water Konsortium (IWK), but this plan does not fall within the reserve route's range.”
