(Seria, 6th) — In anticipation of the “2026 International Girls in ICT Day,” eight female students from Chung Ching Middle School, grades 7 through 9, were recently invited to participate in a professional workshop themed on artificial intelligence and future technologies. The workshop was jointly organized by the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI), the University Alumni Office (UniALUMNI), and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). Its goal was to introduce students to cutting-edge technologies and encourage young women to take an active role in shaping the digital world of tomorrow.
During the event, the eight students were divided into two groups and used the AI tools they had just learned to independently complete a project assignment. After evaluation, one group of four stood out with their outstanding project proposal, earning the opportunity to present and report on stage to all guests, teachers, and attending students.
Facing an audience of about 100 students, the four students delivered their presentation with composure and confidence, demonstrating clear logic and innovative content. They received unanimous praise from the audience and ultimately won first place in the project showcase segment.
The four outstanding students were: Zhou Xingxing (Grade 7, Lily Class), Liang Leyi (Grade 8, Jasmine Class), Luo Wanrou (Grade 9, Science Class), and Lin Weiyan (Grade 9, Science Class).
Principal Jia Renyou stated that this event not only allowed participants to experience firsthand the application of AI technology in practical projects but also further proved the immense potential of young women in the technological field. In the future, the relevant departments and universities will continue to promote female participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and ICT (Information and Communications Technology) activities, in order to cultivate more diverse and innovative talent for the digital society.
