(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) — The 44th ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Customs (CCC) meeting officially opened on the 5th of this month in the capital. The meeting was hosted by the Customs Department under the Ministry of Finance and Economy, with the department’s Acting Director Azizzir presiding over the opening.
In his opening speech, Azizzir emphasized the important role of the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Customs (CCC) in promoting regional economic integration, facilitating trade, and ensuring the effective implementation of ASEAN customs initiatives. He pointed out that improving cross-border connectivity, transparency, and efficiency is vital for consolidating ASEAN as a dynamic and integrated economic region.
He also stressed that customs administrations must remain adaptive, forward-looking, and resilient in responding to global challenges and uncertainties.
He specifically mentioned that supply chain resilience and transparency are crucial and highlighted the adoption of digitalization and technological advancements to support seamless regional connectivity and efficient operations.
This meeting is expected to serve as a valuable platform for constructive dialogue, meaningful exchanges, and impactful outcomes, further advancing ASEAN’s common objectives. This commitment reflects ASEAN’s collective vision—"One Vision, One Identity, One Community."
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Director Mohamad of the Customs Department, is conducted in a hybrid format and has attracted participation from all ASEAN member states, the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN dialogue partners, as well as representatives from the private sector. The meeting will be held until the 7th of this month.
