Myanmar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Union for the Ministry of Transport and Communications, as well as the Chair of the Government-Private Sector Development Committee, General Mya Tun Oo, presided over the second meeting of this committee yesterday.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Mya Tun Oo pointed out that despite recent impacts from an earthquake, the committee continued to hold its meeting according to the scheduled arrangement of every four months, to promote development in the trade sector. He mentioned that the work on the ‘National Export Strategy 2020-2025’ is nearing completion, and the next phase should actively promote the implementation of the 'National Export Strategy 2026-2030'. He urged the government and private institutions to jointly draft the action plan (PoA) for this strategy.
Mya Tun Oo also mentioned a significant achievement which was the 'Open General License' (OGL) agreement reached with India on black bean exports by March 2025, marking a major breakthrough in the trade sector.
He further pointed out that the national-level MSME product exhibition and competition event held in February 2025 was successful, with quality products from various regions and states selected as ‘One Product One Region’ and awards given to the relevant entrepreneurs. He emphasized the positive impact of the exhibition on entrepreneurs and promised necessary support from the government.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Union for the Ministry of Planning and Finance, Win She, attended and delivered a speech in the capacity of the committee vice-chairman; and the committee secretary, Minister of the Union for the Ministry of Commerce, U Than Aung, also reported on the progress of implementation since the last meeting.
During the meeting, the attending representatives actively discussed and the meeting concluded successfully.
