On the 26th, Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with visiting Finnish Prime Minister Orpo in Beijing. According to a statement released by China's Ministry of Commerce, Wang Wentao called on Orpo to jointly oppose trade protectionism and to create a fair, open, and predictable policy environment for cooperation between Chinese enterprises and those of Finland and Europe. The two also attended the 6th meeting of the China-Finland Committee for Innovative Business Cooperation.
More than 120 business representatives from both China and Finland participated in the meeting. During the event, business delegates from both countries discussed cooperation in areas such as innovation, green initiatives, and digitalization, and signed multiple commercial agreements.
Orpo stated that China is an important trading partner and export market for Finland, and Finnish companies highly value the enormous potential of the Chinese market. Since its establishment in 2017, the China-Finland Committee for Innovative Business Cooperation has become an important platform for promoting business exchanges and economic cooperation. The two countries have a strong willingness to cooperate in fields such as green and low-carbon development, circular economy, and industrial digitalization, and hope that enterprises from both sides will turn the results of their exchanges into specific cooperative projects.
He further stated that Finland supports free trade and fair competition and looks forward to greater mutual trust and reduced trade barriers between China and Europe. Finland welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in Finland and will create a favorable business environment for them.
