The Parliamentary Rights and Liberties Committee suggests that Dato' Wan Saiful, Member of Parliament for Tasek Gelugor from the Bersatu party, make a report to the enforcement authorities regarding allegations of being threatened and enticed to support the Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Anwar.
According to a report presented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tan Sri Johari, on the 12th of this month, the committee found that Wan Saiful's statements may involve criminal offenses that require further investigation by law enforcement agencies.
He said the committee found testimony that Wan Saiful claimed to have received various proposals during a meeting, including the withdrawal of charges, offers of remuneration, covering his wife's medical expenses, legal fees, and parliamentary allocations.
“Therefore, the relevant policies need further investigation by the authorities, and their authenticity needs to be determined.”
“The committee recommends that the Member of Parliament for Tasek Gelugor report this matter to enforcement agencies such as the police, anti-corruption agency, and the Communications and Multimedia Commission.”
The committee also believes that Wan Saiful's remarks did not confuse Parliament.
Wan Saiful revealed in the Parliament hall in February this year that several individuals, including the Member of Parliament for Tanjung Karang, Dato' Zulkaf Peri, and the Member of Parliament for Kuala Krai, Mohamad Azhari, met with him to persuade him to support the government led by Dato' Seri Anwar.
Zulkaf Peri then submitted a motion on March 22, accusing Wan Saiful of making malicious allegations against him, demanding that Wan Saiful be referred to a parliamentary special committee.
