(Israel, 21st) Israeli forces continued attacks on Gaza City and the entire Gaza Strip on Saturday (September 20), destroying underground tunnels and buildings laced with traps. According to Gaza health authorities, this round of attacks has caused at least 60 Palestinian deaths.
Reuters reported that Israel has intensified its military strikes in Gaza City this week, especially targeting high-rise buildings and simultaneously launching ground offenses.
The Israeli military currently controls the eastern suburbs of Gaza City and continues to bomb the Sheikh Radwan and Tel Al-Hawa districts. From these areas, the army can advance toward the city center and western regions.
The majority of Gaza City residents are currently seeking refuge in these districts that have not yet been fully occupied.
According to estimates by the Israeli military, up to 20 high-rise buildings in Gaza City have been destroyed over the past two weeks. Israeli media reported that the military believes more than 500,000 people have evacuated Gaza City since the beginning of September.
Hamas disagrees with this claim, stating that the number of evacuees is less than 300,000 and around 900,000 people remain in the city, including some Israeli hostages.
On Saturday, Hamas’s military wing posted a hostage collage on Telegram, warning that Israeli military actions in Gaza City have put the lives of hostages at risk.
Hamas also stated that since August 11, Israeli forces have destroyed or severely damaged more than 1,800 residential buildings in Gaza City and demolished over 13,000 tents sheltering the displaced.

On the Israeli side, officials stated that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is exaggerated and blamed Hamas for part of the responsibility.
The Israeli army’s agency in charge of Gaza relief efforts, COGAT, said on Saturday that Hamas had fired upon United Nations work teams and blocked the opening of a new humanitarian aid corridor in the south.

Hamas firmly denied this, claiming that “criminal gangs under the protection of Israeli airstrikes” attacked and looted the aid vehicles. The United Nations has yet to respond.
A senior Hamas media official told Reuters, “We are tirelessly urging the United Nations to fulfill its humanitarian and relief duties.”
