(Miri, 2nd) Sarawak DAP Secretary Alan Ling accompanied Miri MP Chiew Choon Man to attend the Jualan Rahmah and highly acknowledged the successful organization of the event.
He believes that such public welfare activities can not only effectively alleviate the living pressure of the public but also provide a good sales platform for local businesses, achieving a win-win effect.
He urges local MPs to actively liaise with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs to strive for the promotion of similar promotional events in more regions, so that more people can benefit. He emphasized that the government and the public must work together to better promote economic development while safeguarding consumer interests.
"Jualan Rahmah are held in businesses and physical stores or conducted in a mobile manner. This is organized by the federal government to ensure that welfare plans are truly 'in place', allowing people from various corners to purchase necessities at low prices."
At the same time, he reminded all participating businesses to adhere to the principle of honest operation, offer quality goods at reasonable prices, and not disrupt market order or undermine consumer trust for petty gains.
"This is because, in each promotional event, the federal government through the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs will provide participating businesses with a subsidy of at least RM10,000. If events occur during festive periods, the subsidy amount will increase."
Alan Ling pointed out that in the Miri parliamentary constituency's three state constituencies, each constituency can hold up to 6 Jualan Rahmah in a month, making a total of 18 events in Miri alone each month.
He stated, "The intention of such public welfare activities is to benefit the people. Participating businesses must sell quality goods and comply with regulations, and not exploit the situation, as this would betray the original intention of supporting the people through the event."
Alan Ling concluded by once again expressing appreciation for the federal government's efforts and looks forward to more similar public welfare activities in the future, providing greater benefits to the citizens."
