Chiew Choon Man : SARA 2025 Plan Officially Launched Today

(Miri, 1st) Miri MP Chiew Choon Man gladly announced that the Basic Assistance Plan (Sumbangan Asas Rahmah, abbreviated as SARA) 2025 is officially launched today. This initiative once again demonstrates the "Madani Government's" commitment to helping alleviate the economic burden of the people, especially low-income groups and impoverished families.

Chiew Choon Man expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Madani Government for continuously focusing on the well-being of the people. The SARA plan is a supplement to the existing various aid measures, such as the 'Rahmah Cash Assistance' (Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah, STR), 'Rahmah Sales' (Jualan Rahmah), and 'Madani Agro Sales' (Jualan Agro Madani), ensuring that no citizen is overlooked under the pressure of living costs."

The Madani Government once again shows its care for the well-being of the people. The SARA plan is not a one-time aid but a comprehensive, continuous, and efficient subsidy measure. The government distributes aid automatically through STR data and uses MyKad as a transaction medium to reduce the risk of misuse, ensuring aid is accurately granted and limited to purchasing basic necessities. This move not only effectively alleviates the pressure on people's daily living expenses but also reflects the government's determination to build a transparent, sustainable, and socially just core social security system.

Starting today, eligible recipients can use their MyKad to purchase 13 categories of basic necessities at registered supermarkets and grocery stores. This mechanism ensures that the aid funds are only used to purchase essential items. The 13 categories of basic necessities include rice, eggs, cooking oil, flour, bread, biscuits, instant noodles, canned food (e.g., sardines, tuna, baked beans), beverages (e.g., milk, Milo, tea, Nescafe), condiments (e.g., sauces, soy sauce, sugar, salt), personal hygiene products (e.g., toothpaste, shower gel, female hygiene products), medicines (e.g., Panadol, cough syrup, and other Health Ministry approved medicines), and school supplies (e.g., uniforms, shoes, backpacks, stationery).

Depending on the recipient category, each person can receive between 50 MYR to 200 MYR per month to purchase the specified 13 categories of basic necessities.

Chiew Choon Man urged all eligible Miri residents to fully utilize this aid to meet their daily needs. He also hoped that participating merchants would actively cooperate to ensure sufficient supply of goods at reasonable prices.
"The SARA plan is not only a manifestation of the government's assistance to the people but can also stimulate local economic development. Let us collectively make good use of this plan and join hands towards a better future."
