Former Panic Attack Sent Her to ER—Aya: Thought I Was Dying

Published at Jul 13, 2026 12:01 pm
Taiwanese star "Aya" Liu Hanya posted an emotional message on her official fan page on the 12th, revealing that after learning a friend had been diagnosed with moderate depression, she decided to share her own experience of being rushed to the emergency room in her twenties due to panic disorder. She admitted that back then, her schedule was packed every day and she was full of energy; in outsiders' eyes, she didn't look like someone who could be depressed. But in reality, she was simply using busyness to numb her mind, to escape her inner anxiety and confusion about the future.

"One day, I suddenly couldn't breathe, my heart was pounding as if it would burst out of my chest, my hands and feet were numb, and my whole body was trembling uncontrollably. I really thought I was about to die." Aya recalled the frightening moment she was sent to the ER by ambulance. After being examined by the doctor, she learned it was a panic attack that had caused "hyperventilation syndrome." That episode became a turning point, making her realize that her "heart was calling for help."

Afterwards, Aya learned to get along with her emotions through reading psychology books, exercising, and practicing yoga, and she began to accept the part of herself that "was afraid of not being good enough." She once cried for no reason, but now understands that it was pent-up emotions being released. She warmly encouraged everyone that recovery is not a sudden, overnight transformation, but like murky water slowly settling day by day, so that you can finally accept your true self.
