【Southern Thailand Flood】Airport Provides Assistance to Stranded Passengers, Airlines Introduce Relief Measures

Published at Nov 24, 2025 02:17 pm
The director of Thailand’s Hat Yai International Airport, Krisada, revealed that due to severe flooding in Hat Yai city, many shops inside the airport are unable to operate as usual, resulting in a large number of passengers being stranded and unable to enter or leave the city. Therefore, the airport has urgently coordinated multiple parties to ensure the supply of food and drinking water, and has received strong support from various airlines.

In addition, the Royal Thai Air Force’s 56th Wing, the 42nd Military District, government departments, businesses, and the media are working together to provide passengers with maximum convenience while ensuring safety. The airport will maintain 24-hour contact with all parties to ensure continued normal operations during the flood.

Although Hat Yai International Airport remains open, roads to and from the airport and urban areas are heavily obstructed, causing some passengers to be unable to arrive or depart on time.

Multiple airlines have introduced relief measures in response to the flood, such as free rescheduling, retaining credit for future use, etc. Affected passengers can contact their airlines directly for processing. For passengers whose flights are delayed for more than two hours or canceled, they are protected under the “Regulation No. 101 of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand”; airlines must provide a full refund or free change to other flights.

Thai AirAsia advises passengers to check flight status via airasia.com/flightstatus or contact support.airasia.com. Passengers affected by the flood can receive flexible assistance.

Nok Air pointed out that passengers to and from Hat Yai on November 23-24 can choose one free rescheduling (within one month), no fare difference required, or a one-time free change to a neighboring airport (within one month), or convert to a 100% 90-day valid voucher. For assistance, call 1318, visit the official website, or go to a ticket counter.

Bangkok Airways reminds passengers departing from Hat Yai to leave 2 to 3 hours in advance. For rescheduling, call 1771 or contact via Facebook.
