Second Wave of Floods Hits Hat Yai: Water Level Submerges Car Roofs, Malaysians Still Awaiting Rescue

The disaster situation in Hat Yai, southern Thailand, continues to worsen as a second wave of floods arrives, with water levels rising even higher than two days ago. Many Malaysian tourists remain stranded in local hotels, awaiting rescue.

A person believed to be trapped in Hat Yai, who manages the “合艾趴趴走 Hatyai Go3” Facebook page, went live on the page on Monday morning (November 24) to share the latest updates on the flood situation in Hat Yai.

During the livestream, she said that although the water level had briefly receded on Sunday (23rd), the floodwaters have now surged again, reaching levels even higher than the previous two days. The disaster in the area remains severe.

She stated that the area is now without water and electricity, so she urged everyone watching the livestream to contact family members stranded in Hat Yai as soon as possible to confirm their safety, while the internet is still available.

At the same time, she included the phone number of the Consulate-General of Malaysia in Songkhla (+6681-9901930) and the location of the Hat Yai Thong Seng Charity Rescue Headquarters  maps.app.goo.gl/M1cduToE3Gf1Y4sG6 in the livestream post, so those in need can seek help promptly.

She mentioned that since the water level in Hat Yai city center remains high, Malaysian rescue teams are not advised to rush in by vehicle. Instead, they should first contact the Hat Yai Thong Seng Charity Rescue headquarters to coordinate rescue operations.

She said that entering the city on your own for rescue operations increases risk and may even result in needing rescue yourselves.

She also encouraged everyone, expressing hope that all Malaysians can get out safely and return home.
