The spokesperson of the Unity Government and Minister of Communications, Fahmi, pointed out that the cabinet deems it unnecessary to establish a ministerial position for non-Islamic affairs.
He stated that during the cabinet meeting on Friday (14th), a discussion was held regarding the suggestion by DAP Raub Member of Parliament, Chow Yu Hui, to establish a non-Islamic affairs ministerial position.
He mentioned that DAP leaders expressed during the meeting that they have never discussed this issue, and the suggestion was not the party's stance but rather Chow Yu Hui's personal position.
Fahmi remarked this during a regular press conference after the cabinet meeting.
He said that currently, there is already a Minister of Unity who, through the Harmony Committee (Jawatankuasa Harmoni) mechanism, convenes representatives of various religions in the country to discuss issues related to unity.
“Therefore, his (Chow Yu Hui's) suggestion is deemed unnecessary.”
