After US President Trump proposed the suggestion of 'taking over' the Gaza Strip, it sparked an international backlash. Around 50 people held a peaceful protest rally outside the US Embassy building on Friday (14th) to protest against these remarks.
These protesters gathered outside the Tabung Haji Building after Friday (February 14th) Muslim prayer time and then marched to the said embassy; they held Palestinian flags and posters with words like 'Gaza is not for sale'.
Attendees of the rally included State Assemblyman Abbas Salehimi from the National Integrity Party, Rafik Razia, the Publicity Director of the Homeland Fighters' Party, and social activist Tian Chua.
The rally was organized by the Secretariat of Civil Society Support for Palestine and the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (Mapim).
Trump had earlier proposed a plan to have the US take over the Gaza Strip after the end of the war between Israel and Hamas, redeveloping it into the 'Riviera of the Middle East'.
The proposed plan calls for temporarily relocating much of the Palestinian population of the Gaza area to Egypt, Jordan, and other countries.
