Fahmi, the spokesperson for the Unity Government and the Minister of Communication, pointed out that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar has instructed the Ministry of Home Affairs to study and review the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA).
He said that Friday's (14th) cabinet meeting discussed and agreed in principle on several issues regarding the strengthening and review of the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.
However, he indicated that the Minister of Home Affairs is expected to make a ministerial statement in the Parliament regarding the related matter.
Fahmi mentioned this during a routine press conference held after the cabinet meeting.
When asked about the cabinet’s suggestions regarding the review of the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012, he stated that the Minister of Home Affairs will make an announcement on the details.
