Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar said with the participation of all states in the 'Visit Malaysia 2026' (VM2026) event, he hopes all departments will focus on enhancing the capacity in tourism, investment, and economic sectors.
He pointed out that every state and district has its own advantages in attracting tourists.
"With this year being our ASEAN chairmanship, we will ensure our plans are well-prepared for each state, without exception, for becoming a tourist destination this year and especially next year.
"I have requested all departments to give attention so that our country can enhance its capacity in tourism, investment, and economic sectors. No area or state will be left behind."
He said this while launching the Visit Malaysia 2026 event today.
Anwar stated that comprehensive participation from all parties can help the country achieve the anticipated income of RM147.1 billion and 35.6 million tourist arrivals through this event.

"Therefore, as I mentioned, the impact of Visit Malaysia 2026 will go beyond tourism, including the hotel, transportation, retail, and food industries... both urban and rural communities will share the economic benefits."
Anwar said the prosperity work framework aims for sustainable development, achieving a higher quality of life, and fostering inclusiveness with the natural environment.
Anwar also mentioned our country's unique tourism resources, reflecting the characteristics of multi-ethnic and cultural influences.
"This is not an ordinary destination, but a unique and eco-friendly one, immersed in the multiculturalism of Malaysian people, a culturally diverse, rich, and sustainably developed destination, aligning with our theme."
