Immigration Department Enforcement Operation in Kuching: 64 Foreign Nationals Detained

(Kuching, 13th) The Immigration Department launched a two-day comprehensive enforcement operation at multiple locations across the city, resulting in the detention of 64 foreign nationals.
The Sarawak Immigration Department issued a statement indicating that the operation, which took place on March 11 and 12, involved the deployment of 34 enforcement officers.
During daytime raids, officers inspected a construction site in Muara Tebas, as well as several eateries in Penrissen Highlands suspected of being involved in online gambling activities.
The statement noted: "Preliminary checks found that some foreign nationals were suspected of violating the Immigration Act 1959/63, including not possessing valid travel documents and overstaying."
The enforcement action continued at night, with immigration officers also conducting a surprise check at an entertainment venue in the city center.
In this operation, a total of 22 foreign nationals were detained, originating from China, Vietnam, Laos, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
All those detained have been taken to the Immigration Department's detention depot for further investigation and processing under relevant immigration laws.
