(Kuching, 30th) An underground power cable in the Baleh Lingin area was damaged, causing a power outage at the water plant's pump and affecting water supply in the surrounding areas. Relevant departments are currently carrying out repair work.
According to a statement, Dato Snowdan, the district councilor for Baleh Lingin, visited the site on Thursday (January 29) to inspect the progress of the cable repairs. Snowdan is also Sarawak’s Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts.
He expressed hope that the power cable repair project could be completed as soon as possible to restore the water treatment plant’s power supply, thereby enabling affected residents to regain water supply at the earliest.
He emphasized that good cooperation and coordination between the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB), the contractor Sarawak Energy, and the Baleh Lingin sub-district office are crucial in helping to speed up the repair work.
At the same time, Snowdan also expressed gratitude to all relevant departments for their quick response and active involvement in the repair efforts, and commended all parties for their commitment and efficiency in safeguarding the well-being of Baleh Lingin residents.
