76-year-old Hong Kong star Eric Tsang has starred in many widely acclaimed films. Aside from his career in showbiz, he is also a businessman with a wealth of life experience. However, in 2022, he abruptly announced his retirement from the industry, though he still shares aspects of his personal life on social media. Recently, he revealed that he has become philosophical about life and is even willing to consider euthanasia.
In the video, Tsang mentioned that in recent years, many seniors in the entertainment circle have passed away, which left him feeling deeply moved. However, he has always taken a relaxed attitude toward life and death. Since he has no elderly parents to care for and no children of his own, he feels unburdened and completely unafraid of death: “I think birth, aging, sickness, and death are the only things you can't control,” he said. “You can’t control your own birth, nor can you control getting old.”
Because of this, Tsang believes that “euthanasia” is a way to have life in your own hands: “As long as the day comes when I don’t feel happy anymore, I’ll just choose euthanasia.” In fact, Tsang has long thought about what happens after he passes—back in 2015, he even hoped there would be a band performing at his farewell ceremony.
