Actress Ruby Lin and Wallace Huo have been married for nine years and have a daughter. Recently, on the Chinese variety show Dear, Goodbye, she shared tidbits about their married life and admitted that her habit of looking at her phone while sitting in the front passenger seat once upset her husband Wallace Huo, who said, “Every time I drive, you’re on your phone. Am I your driver?”
Ruby Lin recalled the situation, saying the two were heading out by car, but the atmosphere in the car seemed a bit tense as both were feeling unhappy and a little angry. She started to look down and swipe through her phone in the passenger seat, not realizing this would touch a nerve with her husband. Upon noticing, Wallace Huo couldn’t help but sternly say, “Every time I drive, you’re on your phone. Am I your driver?” This left her stunned and made her realize she’d been ignoring how the driver felt.
In response to Wallace Huo’s sudden complaint, Ruby Lin said that ever since he brought it up, “I’ve never dared to look at my phone while he’s driving,” and she wouldn’t even reply to pop-up messages anymore. She explained that at that time, she was always on her phone because she’d be chatting with friends or handling work matters—messages would come one after another endlessly, causing her to be absorbed in her phone world through the entire trip, completely overlooking her partner beside her. After that incident, she said she has since changed the habit.
