The founder of the world’s largest fraud park—Myawaddy’s ‘Asia Pacific City’ in Myanmar—She Zhijiang, who was detained in Thailand, was earlier ruled by the court to be extradited to China for trial. On the 12th, She Zhijiang, under escort by Thai police, arrived at Bangkok Airport for formal extradition to China. On the evening of the 12th, She Zhijiang was escorted by Chinese police from Thailand to Nanjing Lukou Airport in Jiangsu, China.

According to Thai media reports, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Royal Thai Police escorted She Zhijiang from the Bangkok detention center to the Suvarnabhumi Police Station’s detention facility, and then handed him over to Chinese police.

43-year-old She Zhijiang is one of the notorious backers behind the ‘KK Park’ in Myanmar. He is wanted by Beijing for allegedly operating more than 200 illegal online casinos in Myanmar, causing losses exceeding 150 million yuan (87.12 million ringgit).

In August 2022, Thai police arrested She Zhijiang under an international arrest warrant. In May last year, the Thai Criminal Court ruled to extradite She Zhijiang to China, but his legal team appealed on the grounds that the extradition order was unlawful. In October this year, the Constitutional Court of Thailand ruled the extradition order legitimate, and this week the Appeals Court upheld the order to extradite She Zhijiang to China.3cbr>
On the 12th, the Chinese Ministry of Public Security website published a notice where an official responded to reporters, stating that the successful extradition this time has strongly responded to public expectations for combating cross-border gambling and telecom fraud crimes. It demonstrates the public security authorities’ firm determination and attitude to strictly crack down on crimes in accordance with the law and earnestly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the public. At the same time, this is also another important result of China-Thailand international law enforcement and judicial cooperation and the fight against transnational crime. Chinese police will continue to intensify the crackdown on telecom fraud and cross-border gambling, investigating any case and pursuing any fugitive, ensuring all criminals are brought to justice.
