Recently, Thai cyber police successfully arrested a world-class hacker who had fled to Phuket, Thailand. This hacker had repeatedly infiltrated the security systems of government institutions in Europe and the United States.
Lieutenant General Surapong, Director of Thailand’s Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, stated that the FBI had issued a request for assistance to Thailand, claiming that the hacker had launched cyber attacks against multiple government systems in different countries and had entered Thailand.
He pointed out that the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau immediately cooperated with the Immigration Bureau, Tourist Police Bureau, Forensic Evidence Office, and the Attorney General’s Office to launch an investigation.
He stated that after investigation, the hacker entered Thailand via Phuket International Airport on October 30, 2025, and was hiding in a hotel in Thalang District, Phuket. The police subsequently applied for an arrest warrant from the Attorney General’s Office and apprehended the individual on the grounds of “extradition at the request of another country.”
On the day of the operation, police from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau joined with the local Immigration Bureau to raid the hotel, arresting the suspect on the spot and confiscating multiple electronic devices, which will undergo further technical inspection.
Currently, the hacker has been handed over to the Attorney General’s Office, and formal extradition procedures are being initiated in accordance with the law.
