According to a report by the online media 'mStar', a doctor shared on social media the experience of a female patient. The doctor discovered she had been injecting too much insulin, and upon further questioning, it was found that if her blood sugar was high, she would be beaten by her husband because he felt it was embarrassing for her to have diabetes.
The patient stated that her husband advised her not to listen too much to doctors, and also, out of fear of others finding out he has a wife with diabetes, he even forced her to drink sweet beverages when dining out.
'He feels it's embarrassing that I have diabetes, so when dining out, he doesn't allow me to order plain water and makes me drink sweet beverages because he's afraid people will find out I have diabetes. If I order plain water, I will be beaten by him when I get home,' the wife revealed.
The doctor suggested that the woman report to the Islamic religious authorities, but the woman stated that her husband refused to attend, and the authorities could only give her some advice, but she was beaten again when she returned home.
The patient stated that she had also reported to the police before, and her husband had been detained, but after his release, he would return home and beat her, so she didn't know who else to report to.
'If the doctor wants to see him, he would wait in the car outside the clinic. But if he knows I complained to you, I would get beaten again when I get home.'
The doctor does not know how to help the woman either, but before she left, she told the doctor that she had indeed thought about getting a divorce, but because she doesn’t have a job and the whole family relies on her husband, she dismissed the idea of divorce.
