Communications Minister Fahmi believes it's necessary to enhance public understanding of the benefits of the National Digital Identity (MyDigital ID), as the system not only simplifies user access but also helps reduce government expenditure.
Fahmi, who is also the spokesperson for the unity government, stated that the latest progress of MyDigital ID's implementation will be discussed at the National Digital Economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution Committee (MED4IR) meeting scheduled for February 12.
He told reporters today (23rd) after attending the monthly assembly of the Ministry of Communications: "Indeed, there are (two key) issues. Firstly, raising public awareness of the benefits of a single login system like MyDigital ID, and secondly, encouraging agencies developing applications to make good use of this single login system."
Fahmi said the government hopes to enable all Malaysians to use a single login name to access all government applications through MyDigital ID. If they log in to platforms such as the Road Transport Department's MyJPJ, the Inland Revenue Board, or any government platform, they will not need to re-enter personal information or create new accounts, thereby facilitating user access and saving costs for the government.
Fahmi mentioned that Prime Minister Dato' Sri Anwar also urged the acceleration of MyDigital ID's implementation and expressed dissatisfaction with the progress presented at the recent MED4IR meeting.
"I believe a more comprehensive plan is necessary, and I trust that the MyDigital ID initiative will bring significant benefits. We do hope for its effective implementation."
MyDigital ID is a government initiative aimed at providing a secure and effective identity verification for internet users, serving as a digital identity authentication platform that can enhance the security and efficiency of online transactions.
