The Ministry of Human Resources is allocating 20 million ringgit this year through HRD Corp and SOCSO to provide skills training in three key areas: cybersecurity, data science, and artificial intelligence (AI) for up to 5,000 Malaysians.

Shen Zhiqiang, Minister of Human Resources, pointed out that the plan aims to provide reskilling and upskilling training for Malaysian employees. All participants will undergo training for three to six months at the Indian technology giant, HCL Technologies.

“As for SOCSO, they will be responsible for training employees under the Employment Insurance Scheme, while HRD Corp will train workers outside the purview of the SOCSO scheme. Our aim this year is to train up to 5,000 Malaysian employees in these key areas based on the modules provided by HCL.”

“One of the reasons SOCSO is involved is because they manage the Employment Insurance Scheme. Therefore, within this training ecosystem, MyFutureJobs will also assist participants in matching suitable job opportunities.”

Shen Zhiqiang said this at a press conference after witnessing the signing of a tripartite memorandum of understanding between HRD Corp, SOCSO, and HCL Technologies today (23rd).

He pointed out that this memorandum of understanding is a follow-up to the important discussions initiated during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar’s diplomatic visit to India with HCL Technologies last August.

“In just six months, we are here today to witness this important matter, which is the formal signing of the memorandum, marking the beginning of the collaboration between these three organizations.”

“I hope that next year we can increase the number of participants. If we can reach 10,000 people, I would be more than happy to assist.”

He added that this collaboration also reflects Malaysia’s commitment to bridging the digital skills gap and further advancing the country’s goal of becoming a regional leader in workforce development.

Additionally, SOCSO, HRD Corp, and HCL Technologies said in a joint statement that the first batch of trainees will begin their training early this year, with applications open on the MyFutureJobs website.
