(Kuala Belait, 15th)—The first meeting of the Belait District Committee for the Sultan’s 80th Birthday Celebration was held yesterday (Thursday) at 9 a.m. at the Belait District Office’s hall.
The meeting was chaired by Belait District Acting District Officer Amirul. Attendees included Legislative Council members, senior government officials, village heads, longhouse leaders, invited guests, and related committee members.
In his speech, Amirul expressed gratitude to Allah for allowing all parties to gather and take part in the preparations for His Majesty the Sultan’s 80th birthday celebration.
On behalf of the Executive Committee and all staff, he thanked everyone who participated in last year’s 79th birthday celebration of His Majesty the Sultan for their support, commitment, and valuable contributions.
He stated that the successful hosting of last year’s celebration was due to the meticulous arrangements by the Celebration and Working Committees, as well as the unity and cooperation across various levels of society in Belait District. This spirit of cooperation fully demonstrates the people’s love and respect for His Majesty the Sultan and the public’s support for national celebrations.
He pointed out that not only did people from all sectors actively participate in the festivities, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere, but they also contributed through their energy, creativity, and patriotism, reflecting the people’s loyalty and love for a monarch who is caring, visionary, and leads national development.
However, he reminded everyone that although past celebrations were successful, there were still shortcomings that need improvement. Therefore, all parties should learn from their experiences, start afresh with renewed spirit, and strengthen planning and implementation to ensure this year’s celebration is even more outstanding, orderly, and complete.
He called on government departments, the private sector, NGOs, volunteers, and all related individuals to continue working hand in hand and to further strengthen the spirit of unity.
He said that this year’s celebration of His Majesty the Sultan’s birthday should not only be an official event, but also a symbol of the people’s loyalty and love, while showcasing the unity of the nation and its people.
At the meeting, the Acting District Officer also officially announced the dissolution of the Belait District Committee for the Sultan’s 79th Birthday Celebration (2025), and the appointment of the new members for the Belait District Committee for the Sultan’s 80th Birthday Celebration (2026), while congratulating the newly-appointed Legislative Council members, representatives at all levels, and committee members.
He expressed hope that the newly-formed Celebration Committee and all working committees would actively plan various activities to ensure all programs proceed smoothly, orderly, and successfully, and that they will seriously consider suggestions and opinions from all parties to further improve the flow, lively atmosphere, and overall effect of the celebration events.
