Launch of Miri's New Pump Track Sports Arena Datuk Sebastian Ting : Promoting the Development of Cycling Sports

(Miri, 15th Report) The new Pump Track Sports Arena at Miri Reservoir Park was officially completed today, with the launch ceremony officiated by Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew . Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang and guests from various sectors attended, witnessing this historical moment together.

It is worth noting that Miri becomes the 1,187th city worldwide to have a pump track, further strengthening its international standing in the field of extreme sports.

During his speech, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew  mentioned that the Miri Pump Track Sports Arena is not only Malaysia's first pump track meeting international standards but also the 1,187th Velosolutions pump track worldwide, marking a new milestone in the development of cycling sports in Miri, Sarawak, and even the entire nation.

He thanked Velosolutions, Miri City Council, and all partners for their efforts in bringing this world-class sporting facility to Miri.

He emphasized that the track is suitable for riders of all levels, whether novices, amateurs, or professionals, to practice their skills and enhance their riding abilities.

Moreover, this modern Pump Track Sports Arena is not only poised to promote extreme sports culture but also aims for Malaysia to join the global competitive map of BMX, small wheel, mountain, and city bikes, creating opportunities for local riders to get to the Red Bull UCI Pump Track World Championships.

Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle and Boosting Tourism Economy

Datuk Sebastian Ting  pointed out that the completion of this pump track encourages youth to engage in outdoor sports, reducing dependency on electronic screens while cultivating discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship.

He believes that the inauguration of the Pump Track will further drive the development of sports tourism in Miri, attracting cycling enthusiasts from home and abroad to challenge themselves, while also fostering more events, training camps, and community activities that will positively impact the local economy and tourism industry.

"Today is not just a launch ceremony, but the start of a new sporting culture. Let's use this as a starting point to build a more vibrant, healthier sports community in Sarawak!"

At the event, Chen Chao Yao announced the official opening of Malaysia's first internationally compliant Miri Pump Track (Velosolutions Pump Track) and a performance was held.
