(Miri, 15th) Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting pointed out that Sarawak is a multiracial society that practices multiculturalism and different religions. This inclusiveness and harmony are the strong forces of the Sarawak people and is the unique cultural charm of Sarawak, making it an exemplary multicultural society.
He said that every year during the month of Ramadan, social groups and non-governmental organizations, regardless of race or religion, actively organize activities such as distributing assorted porridge or donating materials. These efforts cross the boundaries of different ethnic groups and showcase Sarawak's unique cultural characteristics.
Sebastian Ting made these remarks while attending the 2025 Ramadan Month Donation, at the Penrissen Service Center at Kampung Melayu Acting, last night.
"This is the unique lifestyle of the people of Sarawak. Through such activities, people of different ethnic groups can further cultivate a spirit of harmony, unity, and mutual respect, laying a stronger foundation for the culture of unity in a multicultural society."
He pointed out that the Activity aims to convey care to the society, provide assistance to disadvantaged groups, and let families in need feel the warmth and support of the community during the Ramadan month.
He hopes that similar charitable activities continue to be promoted by society, and through the joint efforts of all sectors, more people in need can benefit, promoting the spirit of community mutual aid.
It is reported that last night 83 beneficiaries received materials, and 200 servings of assorted porridge were distributed on site.
