Russian President Putin referred to Chinese President Xi Jinping as a precious friend and quoted a Chinese saying, 'A day apart feels like three years.'
On Wednesday morning, Xi Jinping held talks with Putin, who is on a state visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
During the meeting with Xi, Putin said: 'Respected Mr. President, Mr. Xi Jinping, my precious friend, there is a Chinese proverb that fits perfectly in this context. As we know, there is a Chinese saying, "A day apart feels like three years."'
Putin said that his talks with Xi were friendly and productive, and he stated that China-Russia relations have stood the test of time, demonstrating great resilience.
Putin also thanked Xi for his warm reception and hospitality. 'Please allow me to thank you and all our Chinese friends for your warm reception, invitation, and hospitality.'
The Russian delegation that arrived in Beijing with Putin was sizable, including five deputy prime ministers, eight federal ministers, representatives of the presidential administration, heads of national group companies, senior executives of large enterprises, as well as several Russian governors.
