During talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Wednesday, Russian President Putin stated that Russia-China relations are at an unprecedented high level and invited Xi to visit Russia next year.

At 11:12 p.m. on Tuesday, the plane carrying Putin landed at Beijing Capital International Airport. This is his 25th visit to China.

The Chinese side held a welcoming ceremony for Putin at the airport. After walking down the red carpet accompanied by Politburo member and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Putin got into his car and departed.

Putin's last visit to China was in September last year, when he attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and the "September 3rd" military parade in Tianjin and Beijing.

During the Xi-Putin meeting, the two sides will exchange views on bilateral relations, cooperation in various fields, and international and regional issues of common concern.

Putin's visit comes right after U.S. President Trump's visit to China. Observers believe that Putin wants to use this visit to showcase the unbreakable nature of Russia-China relations.
