(Miri, 13th) A man who went missing after falling into the river in the Lutong area a few days ago was found dead early this morning after three consecutive days of search and rescue operations.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Command Center, the authorities received a report at 1:11 p.m. on the 11th of this month about a fall-into-river incident at the Lutong Bridge located at Kampung Bakam, Parklane Road, Lutong, and immediately dispatched personnel to launch a search and rescue operation.
The operation was coordinated by on-scene commander Mohamad Fauzi and was carried out jointly with the police, Civil Defense Force, Health Department, and Sarawak Coast Guard, focusing on water-based search and rescue. During the operation, the teams flexibly adjusted their methods based on water levels and the site situation, ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment.
The Fire Department stated that on the third day of the search, at 7:10 a.m. today, the water rescue unit discovered the missing man about 1.3 kilometers from the operations command center. The body was then brought back to the command center at 7:48 a.m., and his identity was confirmed by the family at 8:12 a.m. The search and rescue operation officially ended at 8:30 a.m.
The deceased was confirmed to be a 32-year-old man who had lived in Miri. The relevant authorities stated that the case has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
During the search and rescue operation, a total of seven fire and rescue personnel were deployed, using fire trucks, 4WD vehicles, and rescue boats; the police, Civil Defense Force, Health Department, and Sarawak Coast Guard also sent personnel and boats to assist in the operation.
