(Miri, 13th) The Miri Taiwanese Alumni Association will be holding its 2026 (Bing-Wu Year) Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner and the inauguration ceremony for the 37th committee on February 28th (Saturday) at 6:30pm, with 25 tables at the ground floor of the Miri Jubilee Grand Restaurant. Academic excellence awards will also be presented to members’ children. The association urges members to purchase tickets enthusiastically, make time to attend, and join in the grand event.
The newly appointed president, Yang Cixiang, stated that the Chinese New Year reunion dinner is one of the association’s key annual events, aiming to foster camaraderie among alumni who studied in Taiwan and strengthen bonds and unity among members. Therefore, members are encouraged to join with their families, gathering with distinguished guests, advisors, committee members, and families to celebrate the traditional Chinese New Year together in a warm atmosphere.
In addition, applications for the academic excellence award for members’ children are now open, with the deadline on February 23rd (Monday). If either parent is a member who studied in Taiwan, and the child is currently studying at any stream school in Miri, they may apply. Eligible applicants only need to photograph their report card and send it via WhatsApp to the association’s secretary, Zhan Heng Min (017-8519956), to complete the application process.
To ensure the dinner is smoothly organized, the association has established an organizing committee, chaired by Yang Cixiang. The committee consists of several advisors and committee members, responsible for ticketing, programming, reception, awards, and venue arrangements, working wholeheartedly on the event’s preparations.
