Through multiple verifications, a reporter from The Beijing News has learned that a woman bitten by a snake in Yunbiao Town, Hengzhou, Guangxi has unfortunately passed away. A villager who participated in the rescue said that the woman was transferred several times before receiving hospital treatment due to impassable roads, and by the time he saw her, she was already unconscious. Another villager bitten by a snake told reporters the woman was in her forties or fifties and was bitten on the evening of the 6th.
A Dr. Wu from Yunfu, Guangdong told reporters that after seeing the news, he drove with a volunteer rescue team for 200 kilometers to Yunbiao Town. The trip, which normally would have taken four hours, took more than eight hours in the heavy rain. Dr. Wu said that upon arrival he learned that snakes had escaped and that some villagers had already been bitten.
"I heard from locals that over 1,000 snakes escaped, and one or two people were bitten," Dr. Wu said. He called the relevant department at Nanning First People's Hospital and was told, "We have the antivenom, but can’t bring it in; we hope a drone could deliver it, but the distance is too far."
Currently, in addition to the need for snakebite treatment, the site is also in urgent need of hypoglycemic drugs, antihypertensive drugs, as well as meat, vegetables, and other daily necessities. Due to long-term consumption of instant noodles, elderly people with cardiovascular disease are facing health risks.
