US Official: Trump Dislikes Iran's Proposal

Published at Apr 28, 2026 03:29 pm
A US official stated on the 27th that President Trump is not satisfied with the proposal put forward by Iran because it does not address Iran’s nuclear program.

According to Reuters, citing relevant US officials, Trump discussed the proposal made by Iran with his national security team earlier that day. “He (Trump) does not like this proposal.”

On the 26th, US news site Axios reported that the United States has received a new negotiation proposal from Iran transmitted through Pakistan. Citing sources, the report said Iran’s new proposal first focuses on resolving the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and the issue of the US blockade. As part of the proposal, the ceasefire would be extended for a long term or all parties would agree to a permanent cessation of hostilities. Nuclear negotiations would only begin after the Strait of Hormuz is reopened and the US blockade is lifted.

Iran is studying and evaluating negotiation requests from the US

Iranian Foreign Minister Aragchi stated in an interview with reporters before meeting Russian President Putin in St. Petersburg that Iran is studying and evaluating the negotiation requests put forward by the US.

He said that Iran is facing pressure from the world’s largest superpower, but the other side has not even achieved any of its goals, which is why it is now seeking negotiations.
