(Bandar Seri Begawan, 10th) 120 tourists from Hong Kong recently embarked on a one-day tour of Brunei, leaving a deep impression with Brunei's unique mosque architecture and the people's warm and friendly attitude.
This group of students visited two mosques, Istana Nurul Iman, the Billionth Barrel Monument, as well as the Seria Energy Lab.
The tour bus also circled around the capital, allowing the students to experience up close the cityscape and the daily lives of local people.
Newman Catholic College principal Henry Ng said in an interview: "Actually, we had already heard a lot about Brunei when we were in Hong Kong, but in reality, we didn’t know much about the country. That’s why we decided to come to Brunei, hoping to broaden our students' horizons."
When asked about the most memorable part of the trip, Henry Ng said: "Visiting the mosques was the highlight of my journey, because these buildings are rich in history and culture. We also gained a deeper understanding of Brunei's history and monarchy."
He also mentioned that the Billionth Barrel Monument, facing the South China Sea, had beautiful scenery and left unforgettable memories.
Talking about Bruneian youth, he commented: "Young people in Brunei have many opportunities to broaden their horizons, as citizens enjoy free education, and the government provides various assistance and support to help youth further improve their skills, knowledge, and potential."
He added: "We are deeply impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the Bruneian people. We will always treasure this experience and look forward to sharing these wonderful memories with more people."
It is understood that before arriving in Brunei, this group of Hong Kong students had also gone to Miri for a four-night activity and visited local tourist attractions.
