(Nilai, 23rd) An 11-year-old boy who went missing while attending a religious class activity was eventually found drowned in a nearby pond.
Nilai District Police Chief Johari stated in a press release that police received a report at 12:28 midnight yesterday about an 11-year-old boy who had gone missing. Search operations were then launched with relevant units in the vicinity of the incident.
"The victim was found in a pond near the scene, and he was in a weakened state. Before proceeding with further checks, authorities also administered oxygen to the rescued victim."
"However, doctors from the Lenggeng Health Clinic ultimately confirmed that the victim had died."
He said that the victim's body was later sent to the Forensic Department of Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban for an autopsy, and authorities will conduct further investigations to clarify the course of events and the actual circumstances.
He stated that authorities will also investigate whether the incident involved any negligence or other factors.
Johari said that authorities will classify the case based on the overall investigation and autopsy results.
He urged the public not to make any speculations that could affect the investigation, and to respect the privacy of the victim's family.
