(Borneo Bulletin, Bandar Seri Begawan, 19th) His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei personally attended the graduation ceremony of the 28th Advanced Command and Staff Course (ACSC) at the UK Defence Academy yesterday, and personally presented the graduation certificate to Prince Mateen, congratulating him on successfully completing the course.
In his speech at the ceremony, His Majesty stated that what awaits the graduates will be real and highly challenging environments, especially as they return to their respective posts amid uncertainty in national security and global instability. He encouraged the graduates to make good use of the knowledge gained from the course and to bravely face all kinds of challenges.
"Success is not only about the positions we attain in the future, but also about how we make this journey," His Majesty encouraged. His Majesty hopes that the graduates would take the skills, networks, and friendships built at the UK Defence Academy and continue to serve their respective countries.
At the certificate presentation ceremony, His Majesty awarded Prince Mateen the "Staff College Graduation Certificate" as well as the Cormorant badge symbolizing completion of the course. In addition, His Majesty also presented this session’s Cormorant Award to Swiss Armed Forces Lieutenant Colonel Fabrice Dubosson in recognition of his outstanding performance.
The closing ceremony was attended by numerous international military and government top officials, including the UK Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Tony Radakin, and the UK Strategic Command Commander General James Hockenhull.
Bruneian Princess Azemah also accompanied His Majesty to attend the ceremony. After the ceremony, His Majesty warmly interacted with the graduating officers and sponsors, displaying his consistent approachable demeanor.
The Advanced Command and Staff Course is a year-long programme specially designed for mid-to-senior level military officers and civil servants from various countries, focusing on enhancing their leadership capabilities in strategy, military, and government administration. This year, a total of 260 participants from 50 allied and partner countries completed the course.
