Sarawak Finalizes Lineup for SUKMA: 12 Muay Thai Athletes Set to Compete

(Kuching, 6th) Sarawak Muay Thai team head coach Ajan Putra stated that the coaching team has officially finalized the list of athletes representing Sarawak for the 22nd Malaysia Games (SUKMA 2026) to be held in Selangor.
Sarawak is sending a total of 12 Muay Thai athletes this time, comprising 8 male and 4 female fighters.
“We have already determined the final list of athletes representing Sarawak at the 2026 Selangor SUKMA,” Ajan Putra told the ‘Sarawak Voice Sports Edition’.
He noted that these selected athletes were chosen based on comprehensive evaluations over the past several months.
“Their selection is not only based on their training performance but also includes their results from various competitions in the past,” he added.
Ajan said that the current focus for the team has shifted towards intensive training in preparation for SUKMA.
On the other hand, Sarawak Muay Thai Association President Jumaat Ibrahim expressed that the association's current priority is to strengthen systematic training for the athletes.
“We plan to send all the athletes overseas for training. The specific date has yet to be decided, but it is expected to be soon,” he said.
