The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) announced that through close collaboration with the United States Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), it has successfully recovered $20 million (90 million MYR) related to a Malaysian solar project fund connected to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

In a press statement, the MACC noted that this sum involved businessman and DuSable Capital Management partner, Jho Low.

"Although Jho Low was unaware of the source when he received the funds, he voluntarily returned the money to the Department of Justice after discovering that the funds received by DuSable came from embezzled 1MDB sources."

The MACC reported that to date, a total of 29.73 billion MYR has been successfully returned to the Malaysian government, not including the recent $20 million recovered by the MACC and FBI.

The statement added that the MACC and the Malaysian government remain committed to continuing efforts to recover assets related to 1MDB.

Additionally, the MACC is actively pursuing the recovery of 1MDB assets embezzled in Kuwait, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and various European countries and regions.

"We will continue our efforts to recover embezzled assets through strategic collaborations with international partners to safeguard the interests of the people and the nation."
