Taiwanese idol boy band F4 reunited after 12 years at the Mayday concert in the Taipei Dome, stirring up nostalgic memories for fans and viewers all across Asia, with Ashin being called the biggest driving force behind the reunion. Regarding this, F4 member Ken Chu shared the behind-the-scenes story, revealing that it was a single sentence from Ashin that deeply moved him, leading him to finally accept the invitation.
On the 16th, Ken Chu revealed via livestream that Mayday's manager, Sister Ai, reached out to him two or three times in total. He told her about the pros and cons and his personal situation, and initially turned down the invitation. Still, Sister Ai persisted.
“She said she still hoped to meet me and talk again. During the second or third meeting, I sat down and asked directly, ‘I don’t know what you’re insisting on. Can you tell me what your obsession is?’”
Then Sister Ai conveyed Ashin’s vision: “Ashin feels that as we grow older, all the beautiful things we once had are gradually fading away. He wants to bring back what little beauty is left, and one of those things is your group reuniting.” Upon hearing this, Ken Chu admitted, “After I heard that, it was really hard to say no!”
In response to netizens being curious about whether he’s really not close with the other F4 members, Ken Chu also admitted, “It’s true!” But he went on to explain that their relationship isn’t anything special: “We just hang out together to chat, work together, sing, act, and we’re happy during those times. But in daily life, there’s just no connection. It’s already been 9 years since the four of us gathered together!” This livestream segment sparked heated discussion among netizens.
Tears Up Talking About Barbie Hsu: 'Hope Wang Xiaofei Earns a Lot of Money'
Even though only Vic Chou publicly admitted to dating Barbie Hsu back in the day, Ken Chu said that she had a significant place in the hearts of all four members. “I think all four of us, in our own ways, loved her when we were younger.”
Since Barbie Hsu was so important, some netizens questioned why Ken Chu would help Wang Xiaofei, who publicly fell out with Barbie Hsu, with product endorsements. Ken Chu replied frankly: He knew a lot of people criticized him for promoting Mazuki’s spicy and sour noodles, and from his own point of view it’s just that when you care about someone, you care about those connected to them too. He clarified: “I truly hope Wang Xiaofei makes a lot of money—otherwise who’s going to take care of his two kids?”
Netizens responded: “This is a truly reasonable person, someone who really cares about the children,” “Anyone who truly loves Barbie Hsu will consider her children,” “That’s the main point! Two children,” and “Ken Chu’s values are truly admirable.”
