Fish Liao Hints at Winning the Golden Horse Best Actress: 'Will Celebrate by Getting Married'

Malaysian actress Fish Liao (Liao Ziyu) attended a cosmetics brand event on the 30th. When asked about her nomination for Best Actress at this year’s Hong Kong Film Awards for her performance in "Love Like the Falling Rain," set to compete for the title on April 19th, Liao Ziyu admitted that the stage of the Hong Kong Film Awards held great significance for her. She recalled watching the award ceremony as a child and feeling it was far out of reach, but now that she’s part of it, she realizes how close the distance to the stage actually is: "The seats are very close to the performers; you can clearly see each other's expressions and every move of the audience below, which inevitably makes you nervous."

Regarding the awards, she said she’s taking it easy and is currently busy preparing her outfit for the ceremony: "I’ve been choosing my clothes. Compared to the anxiety of previous years, I’m much more relaxed about finding the right attire this year. Although I get nervous every year, after accumulating past experience, I know the right dress will eventually appear."

Fish Liao will turn 36 on the 31st. She joked that she doesn’t like her age to increase and urged everyone not to bring it up. She revealed she has already bought air tickets and finalized travel plans with her boyfriend Louis Luk for a trip abroad. Asked whether the trip was an "early honeymoon," she laughed: "It’s not that! I’m in a really good place now, and of course, my priority is work. An early honeymoon... well, it doesn’t sound bad! (Will there be a surprise proposal?) Please, don’t do that!" When asked if she would celebrate by getting married if she won Best Actress, she joked about why getting married should be a way to celebrate, and accidentally let slip, "We’ll celebrate by getting married," which caused the whole room to burst into laughter.
