Chinese singer Shan Yichun performed an unauthorized cover of “Li Bai” at her concert in Shenzhen on the 28th, leading original singer Li Ronghao to openly criticize her for 'outright infringement.' Shan issued two apologies, admitting to lapses in internal copyright review, and has since removed the performance segment. On the 30th, she further announced that tickets for upcoming shows could be refunded, in an attempt to salvage her image.
Shan Yichun announced remedial measures, stating that free ticket refunds would be available for the yet-to-be-held shows in Wuhan and Zhengzhou within 48 hours. Audience members can process refunds from March 31 to April 2 without any service charges. In her statement, she emphasized that she would completely cease performing “Li Bai” in the future and take all relevant responsibility.
The core of this incident lies in copyright dispute. Shan Yichun’s team explained that procedural errors led to the performance going on stage without proper authorization. Li Ronghao, on the other hand, took a hardline stance, stating that upholding copyrights is 'about respecting creativity' and refused to accept any form of compensation.
