(Bandar Seri Begawan, 20th) His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah stated that in this holy month of Ramadan, the blessing of good health is the foundation for our devotion in fasting and doing righteous deeds, bringing us even closer to Allah.
His Majesty mentioned that caring for one’s health also means caring for the well-being of one’s family and the community. Good health enables us to continue contributing to the nation’s development and the welfare of the Muslim community. The Sultan delivered this special address from Istana Nurul Iman on the occasion of welcoming the start of Ramadan 2026.
His Majesty expressed the deepest gratitude for Allah’s abundant blessings and grace, allowing the people to once again welcome Ramadan in an atmosphere of peace, prosperity, and happiness.
The Sultan expressed heartfelt thanks for recovery and the opportunity to convey this message after completing treatment. He mentioned that this experience has reminded us of the vital importance of maintaining good health, as health is a priceless treasure. Good health not only enables us to better worship and serve but is also a shared trust.
“On this occasion, with the deepest sincerity, I extend the highest respect and most heartfelt gratitude to the people and residents of Brunei for their prayers for my health and recovery. I sincerely appreciate every act of care and support.”
“I believe that all the efforts made in prayers, reciting Surah Yasin, and other supplications have been heard and answered by Allah.”
His Majesty stated that these prayers are a great source of strength. He was deeply moved to learn that people of all ages, races, religions, and even children, both at home and abroad, had prayed for the Sultan’s health.
The Sultan also extended his highest respect and sincere gratitude to the leaders and dignitaries of friendly nations for sending messages of prayer, hoping that the ties established between both sides will continue to strengthen and deepen, bringing about shared prosperity.
“I would also like to sincerely thank the doctors and medical teams comprised of experts from home and abroad for their dedication and collaboration in providing me with the best treatment.”
“May Allah reward all these good deeds in manifold, and grant everyone health, prosperity, and blessings.”
On this blessed Ramadan, His Majesty invites the people to pray together, asking Allah for forgiveness, protection from the torment of Hellfire, and beseeching Allah to grant us further opportunities to welcome Ramadan, and gift us with health, so that we may fulfill our fasting worship wholeheartedly and without distraction.
The Sultan pointed out that Ramadan is a vital time for accumulating good deeds, calling on the people to engage in fasting and other religious acts of worship such as recitation of the Quran, joining prayers and night prayers, as well as maintaining good health through a healthy diet so as to make Ramadan auspicious.
His Majesty also said that this month teaches us self-restraint, and when we avoid wastefulness, the blessings we have can be shared with those in need.
To make Ramadan more auspicious, the Sultan urged all ministries, departments, private sector organizations, and all members of society to make use of this period, as per tradition, to engage in religious worship and increase religious and charitable activities.
Finally, His Majesty and his family sincerely wished all Muslim friends a blessed Ramadan wherever they may be. May Allah bless Ramadan and grant everyone a month of peace, tranquility, and harmony in their fasting.
“On this festive occasion, I would like to convey my sincerest New Year greetings to the Chinese community in our country.”
